What came first, the duck, the egg, … or the pizza?
We don’t think Sam would have guessed that any of those would be an integral to his profession when he graduated from Hobart College in 2017, but life can be quite unpredictable. Just before graduating, Sam won a $10,000 grand prize from a prestigious Hobart business competition, and he used that seed money to launch his first business, Pizza Posto.
While making and serving wood fired pizza throughout the Finger Lakes region, he developed a close friendship with Daniel and Elizabeth Hoover, the founders of Spotted Duck. It was a fast friendship as they all shared a common food philosophy and a commitment to serve our community with healthier (and more delicious!) food choices.
When the Hoover’s decided to move on from the business, they approached Sam to see if he was interested in taking over. In late 2020 they came to an agreement, and the rest is history!
